A new opening, on her terms

The opening and first day have a new story design. The aim is to put Aimee’s choices at the centre from the beginning: what she writes down, what she keeps, and what a change costs her. The design has been approved and the new scenes are in the game; in-game review comes next.

We have also been redrawing stage portraits for Aimee, Kaelan and Murash. The first batches have been approved, and more stages and expressions are still in progress.

This week we tightened the standards we use to review story, art, dialogue and game systems. A choice should have a clear reason, a visible consequence and a place in the larger story. That check is guiding the new opening and the work that follows.

Done this week

  • The opening and first day received an approved new story design.
  • The rebuilt opening and first day were put into the game for review.
  • The first batches of redrawn portraits for Aimee, Kaelan and Murash were approved.
  • The review standards for story, art, dialogue and systems were updated.

Next week

  • Review and approve the new first-day lines.
  • Finish the remaining portrait stages and expressions.
  • Play through the rebuilt opening and first day and adjust them from feedback.
  • Prepare the next set of day-one scene cards for review.

Struck from the old plan

  • The earlier opening layout was replaced by the new design.
